C/O，是 care of 的的缩写，可以理解为“留心”、 “留心转交”的意思。
在英文信封上，有时会看到收件人为两个人，其中后者名字前加上 C/O，比如：
Mr. Mark Douglas
c/o Mrs Anne Brown
（地址）
这种情况，往往是说明 Mark 用于种种原因，不能或不想使用自己的地址来接受信件，所以使用 Anne 的地址作为收信地址，信件寄到 Anne 的地址，由 Anne 转交给 Mark，这封信件是寄送到 Anne 的地址，但最终的收件人是 Mark。
简单的说，就是 Anne 是代收人，而 Mark 才是信件的最终收件人。所以这样便可以翻译为“请 Anne 留意将此信件转交 Mark”。
有时候，在 C/O 后面也可能是一个公司、单位或者是地址，这时候的的用法，和上面的用法类似，就是这个收件的公司、单位或地址作为中介，将这封信件转交给最终收件人，比如：
Mr. Mark Douglas
c/o ABC Company

这种情况，往往是发件人不知道 Mark 在公司那个部门，或者公司内部有自己的邮件传递系统等。
在手写的信件中，有些人会习惯于用百分号（%）来代替 c/o，在澳洲、 新西兰英语中，c/o 的常用写法是 c/-。

Cover letter，英语的解释是 a letter sent along with other documents to provide additional information。
也就是说，Cover letter 是随信或者文件（比如应聘简历）一起发出，但是作为首页，提供一些综合信息及概括说明。Cover letter 通常用在求职的简历的发送以及商业信函等。下面是求职的简历 cover letter 的范本。

Mention specific qualifications which make you a good fit for the employer’s needs. This is an opportunity to explain in more detail relevant items in your resume. Refer to the fact that your resume is enclosed. Mention other enclosures if such are required to apply for a position.

3rd paragraph: Indicate that you would like the opportunity to interview for a position or to talk with the employer to learn more about their opportunities or hiring plans. State what you will do to follow up, such as telephone the employer within two weeks. If you will be in the employer’s location and could offer to schedule a visit, indicate when. State that you would be glad to provide the employer with any additional information needed. Thank the employer for her/his consideration.

在英文的歌曲列表中，除了直接标出演唱者的名字外，还有另一种越来越常见的形式：（歌手名）ft.（另一歌手名），比如“The Four Aces ft. Al Alberts”。
这其中的 ft. ，是 Featuring 的缩写，常用的缩写形式还有 feat.，f.，或者 f/。
这里的 Featuring，是嘉宾演唱、特邀演唱的意思。前面的名字是主歌手，Featuring 后面的歌手，便是特邀歌手。特邀歌手在一首歌中可能只唱几句，几个合音，但也可能从头至尾一直跟主歌手唱。

在计算机、网络的实际应用过程中，很多时候，Folder 与 Directory 是混用的，一般大家很少去细想它们之间的区别。
Folder – 文件夹
Directory – 目录
一般情况下，folder 说某一个文件夹，常用在我们的本机电脑上，通常不包含“路径”在里面，比如说：。。。你去桌面上的 XX 文件夹找找看。
Directory 实际上也是一个 folder，但是通常包含它的“路径”因素。另外，directory 常用在网络、网站方面，通常指服务器端某一个文件夹，因此也就要指出它的“路径”。
举个例子，在一句话里同时用这两个词，可以体会出它们的区别。
Please go to directory C:\News\test\, then double click and open folder “My Pics”…

Revenue – 通常是指总收入，也就是通常说的流水。，纯利润一般是说 profits or net income。从政府层面来说，revenue 指税收或财政收入。
但是有时 revenue 加上限定词，可以表达不同的意思。比如：
Gross Revenue – 总销售额
net revenue – 净收益
Assets – 是财产、资产的意思，包括所有财产在内，动产不动产，有形无形的，总之是 everything。

在谈到吃东西、吃饭时，Have 和 Eat 什么区别？
首先，在谈到三餐时，have breakfast，have lunch，have dinner 是通常的搭配，一种惯用的表达方式。
说到区别，have 不一定是真吃，就象上面说的，是表示惯常的一种形式。但是 eat something 就是真吃了。
比如：
Did you have your lunch yet?
Yes.
What did you eat?
Nothing, just an apple.

Alow as Christmas，表示事情或人的动作很慢。
圣诞节在西方很多国家，就像我们过年一样，是一年中最重要的节日。大家，特别是孩子们，很早就开始盼望着节日的到来。盼来盼去环是觉得日子过得慢，节日来得慢，所以就有了这样的俗语，slow as Christmas。
Slow as Christmas 可以相容某个事物比较慢，也可以形容人的动作慢，比如 He is slow as Christmas. 他可真慢。

right as rain，习惯用语，表示很好，很正常。再说到人时，也有表示某人很健康的意思。
